About Me
I grew up in South SF, studied at Cal and now live in Oakland. I've lived in the bay the majority of my life and I love my community here!
In my day job I work as a counselor for high-risk youth in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. I'm also a full time student in an online MSW program. The desire to create this spiritually based initiative has been motivated by the way in which Buddhist concepts and my meditation practice has transformed my life.
Living by the Dharma (the teaching of the Buddha) first allowed me to find calm. I, like many people, found some reprieve in my morning sits and in slowing down. As I deepened my practice, I began to notice the principles having an effect on loosing and removing some long-held resentments. And more recently, I've begun to feel the lifting of fears that have kept me from living as authentically as I wish. In part, I owe the weakening of those fears to my courage to take the leap of faith to start this initiative and persistently nurture its growth.
As spiritual principles dominate more and more of my life I've decided to leap forward and share the teachings of Buddhist philosophy and meditation tools in this rich, deep personal practice. I've been fortunate to experience the relief of my resentments, the relief of my fears - and as a result I want nothing more than to magnify this feeling of freedom with those who are themselves curious to dig deeper into their own practice and develop something transformative and grounding.
